Chinese Export Porcelain Famille Rose Plate with Peacock
Chinese export porcelain plate, circa 1760.
Dimensions: Approximately 9⅜” diameter.
Decoration:
The rim is edged in gold.
The overall decoration depicts a brightly colored peacock on a rock surrounded by flowers. To its right are a pair of gilt bamboo trees and to its left a colorful butterfly.
A plate with this pattern is illustrated in Nadler, “China to Order”, Plate 74 at page 83.
Condition: Minor loss of gilding and enamels and roughness to the rim; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
