"Boy on Buffalo" Staffordshire Transferware Plate

Blue and white Staffordshire transferware bowl C. 1790 – 1810. "Boy on Buffalo Pattern".
 
Dimensions: Approximately 7⅛” diameter.
 
Decoration:
Central scene with pagoda, houses, trees, rocks, island, and, of course, a boy riding a water buffalo with companions. The rim is decorated with a butterfly and diaper pattern band. The cavetto is decorated with  a broken rosette and diaper pattern band. 
 
The piece is unmarked.
 
According to Copeland in “Spode’s Willow Pattern and other designs after the Chinese” at page 100:
“The Buffalo pattern, one of the earliest to be transfer printed on earthenware, was produced by several manufacturers, but it is unusual to find pieces marked with a manufacturer’s name, so attribution still remains almost impossible.”

Condition: Minor professional rim restorations and  wear to rim well; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage.
