Chinese Export Armorial Plate – Fleming Impaling Coleman
Chinese export porcelain plate, circa 1740.
Dimensions: Approximately 10” in diameter.
Decoration:
The rim is decorated with a spearhead border and has three panels decorated with Chinese genre scenes interspersed with three gilt floral sprays.
The center is decorated with a spearhead border and an ornate armorial.
The reverse is unmarked.
The arms are of the Fleming or Flemming family.
The service was made for John Fleming and his wife Jane, nee Coleman. Fleming was created a Baronet in 1768 and died the same year. Jane remarried Edwin Lascelles, who was created Lord Harewood in 1790.

Condition: Minor losses to gilding, fading sable (black) on Coleman arms; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
