Chinese export porcelain plate bearing the arms of Pryce, circa 1745.

 

Dimensions: Approximately 9”

 

Decoration:  

The rim is decorated with a gilt European scroll and shell design.

 

The cavetto is bordered with gilt spearheads.

 

The center has a colorful coat of arms.

 

The reverse has an old label, misidentifying the armorials as those of Brogden.

 

This service was likely made for either Edward Pryce of Gunley, High Sheriff of Montgomeryshire, or his son Richard who succeeded him as High Sheriff.
