$0.00Price

A Chinese export porcelain coffee cup and saucer, circa 1810.

Each piece is bordered with an orange band within which is portrayed a genre scene of people at various activities. These involve a boy walking his dog, a woman flying a kite, and another man with a walking stick among local scenery. The band is edged in gold.

The saucer has a central vignette of trees and shrubs, a quiver of arrows, and two urns; one filled with flowers and the other surmounted by two birds.

A similar border design is found on a chocolate pot illustrated at p. 104 of Nadler's "China to Order, Focusing on the XIXth Century and Surveying Polychrome Export Porcelain".

Rubbing to gilding, minor glaze firing flaws, otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage.
