Chinese Export Fitzhugh Basket and Undertray
Blue and white Fitzhugh pattern Chinese export porcelain basket and undertray, circa 1790.
Dimensions: Basket approximately 8” long x 7” wide x 3¼” high (without handles).
Under tray approximately 8½” x 7 ¼”.Decoration:
The border of each has the typical Fitzhugh border pattern of a trellis diaper with spearheads and dumbbells.
The interior of the basket and the center of the undertray have the typical Fitzhugh decoration of four sprays of chrysanthemums and peonies surrounding a central medallion.
The basket has reticulated sides and a blue diaper band at the bottom.
The undertray has a reticulated rim.
The base of each is unmarked
Condition: Restoration to basket handles; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
