Chinese Export Kangxi Iron Red and Gold Floral Plate
Chinese export porcelain plate, circa 1720
Dimensions: Approximately 8¾” diameter.
Decoration:
The rim is edged with brown and has a diaper border.
The rim is decorated with four groups of flowers and objects in iron red, blue, and gold. Two are of a pomegranate peel and a lotus flower bound together with a calligraphy brush and a halberd and two are of a lotus flower bound together with a chrysanthemum flower.
The cavetto is decorated with a diaper band bearing a flower and cartouches of precious objects.
The center is decorated with a two-handled yellow flowerpot standing on a low table. In the flowerpot filled with three fruits, a pomegranate, a finger lemon or Buddha’s Hand citron, and a peach.
The reverse is decorated with two flowering peony sprays.
Condition: Minor wear to enamels; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage.
