Chinese export porcelain cup and saucer with molded bodies, circa 1780.

 

Dimensions:

            The cup is approximately 3½” in diameter.
            The saucer is approximately 5
” in diameter.

 

Decoration:

The saucer has a gently a gently molded body with a wavy rim.

 

The rim is decorated with a gold band.

 

The center is surrounded by a gold husk band.

 

The center bears a pseudo-armorial in the form of a shield with the initials “PRA”.

 

The shield is surrounded by a floral swag above with is a gold anchor and gold and red ribbons.

 

The cup has a gently molded body with a wavy rim.

 

The interior rim is decorated with a gold band.

 

The exterior rim is decorated with a gold husk band.

 

The front of the cup has the same pseudo armorial decoration.

 

The back of the cup is decorated with a small gilt flower.

 

Condition: The cup has wear to inner rim gilding and the saucer has wear to monogram; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
