Chinese Export Teapot in the Style of Worcester
Chinese export porcelain teapot, circa 1775
Dimensions: Approximately 5⅜” tall (including knopf) x 8” wide (including spout and handle).
Decoration:
The body and lid are bordered with a gilt diaper pattern.
The primary decoration is alternating panels of blue and floral sprays.
The spout and handle are decorated with blue vines.
The base is undecorated and has an old label and collection or museum number.
The decoration of this teapot mimics contemporary Worcester porcelain patterns. At this time porcelain from China was still cheaper than domestically produced porcelain, even taking into account shipping costs.
Condition: Repairs at base of handle and spout; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
