Chinese Export Western Figures Covered Creamer
Chinese export porcelain polychrome covered creamer, circa 1760
Dimensions: Approximately 5” tall (including cover).
Decoration:
The body is bordered with a red, blue, and gold band.
The body is decorated with a scene of a woman or older girl and two children in fashionable European attire playing games.
The woman or older girl holds a staff and what appears to be a cup. She wears a hat and is finely attired.
The middle child holds a paddle.
The smallest child also holds a staff and a toy with a ball.
To the left of the smallest child there appears to be a red shuttlecock.
The background is composed of a large tree and foliage.
The lid has the same band as the body.
The top of the lid shows a mountain, scenery, and the image of what appears to be a man in a barn yard.
While the images on the top are in the Chinese style, the matching border and proper fit indicate that the top and the body were intended to be together.
