Large 19th C. Dark Blue Staffordshire Transferware Pitcher
Condition: Glaze hairline on the base, otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. See photos.
Dimensions: Approximately 7½” tall
Dark Blue Pitcher, circa 1820-1840. The maker is unknown, and there is no reference to it in the literature. However, the Transferware Collectors Club has given the pattern the name “Chinese Pavilion” and referenced it as pattern 16016 in its data base.
The border is composed of flowers and scrolls.The body’s scene consists of two figures stand beside an open air pavilion supported on its four corners by twisted columns. A large covered urn is nearby.
