Ridgway “Simlay” Pattern Platter
“Simlay” pattern ironstone platter by Ridgway. c. 1891-1900
Dimensions: Approximately 15” x 12½”.
The center has a colorful Chinoiserie design colorful of flowers and an urn with gilded highlights.
The rim is edged in navy and rust scrolls surrounding a border of colorful flowers and leaves similar to the center with gilded high lights.
The reverse has pattern name “Simlay” within a scrolled oval, the Ridgway bow and quiver trademark with the additional phrase “Stoke-on-Trent” and the word “England” printed in brown. In addition, there is a painted pattern number and impresse marks “02” and “S”.
The bow and quiver trademark was first registered in 1880, “Stoke-on-Trent” was added in 1885, and “England” was added in 1891.
Condition: In excellent condition consistent with age and usage.
