Polychrome tin-glazed earthenware plates, circa 1750.
Dimensions: Approximately 8⅞” diameter.
Decoration:
The plates are decorated in a naïve hand-painted polychrome design.
The rim is decorated with what appear to be flower spray and draperies.
The center is decorated with an imaginary Chinese landscape with willow trees, structures, and a river.
The reverse is undecorated.
Condition: One plate has a hairline, and both have glaze fleabites and frits typical of antique tin-glazed earthenware. Otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
