Pair 19th C Chinese Export Porcelain Miniature Nanking Platters
Chinese export miniature platters, c. 1850.
Dimensions: Each approximately 6⅜” x 5¼.
The border is composed of concentric geometric and floral bands.
The central scene contains pavilions, figures, trees, islands, and flying geese.
The reverse is unmarked.
It is likely that these were part of a child’s tea set.
For a discussion of these scenes and borders see Madsen & White, “Chinese Export Porcelains” (2009), and Forbes, “Hills and Streams: Landscape Decoration on Chinese Export Blue and White Porcelain” (1982).
Condition: In excellent condition consistent with age and usage.
