Pair 19th C. Flight Barr & Barr Armorial Plates “Semper Fidelis”
A pair of Flight Barr and Barr Worcester porcelain plates bearing armorial decoration c.1830.
Dimensions: Each approximately 8” diameter.
The rim has a gadrooned gilt edge surrounding a burgundy rim.
The center has an elaborate armorial with the motto “Semper Fidelis” surrounded by a gilt band.
The reverse has both impressed and printed Flight Barr & Barr marks.
The crest is that of the Walmesley family. Henry Sandon at p. 212 of his book “Flight Barr and Barr Worcester Porcelain 1783-1840" states that the armorial is that of Sir Thomas Walmesley.
Condition: In excellent condition consistent with age and usage.
