Pair of Jiaqing Period Beaker Vases

Chinese export porcelain vases, circa 1800.

 

Dimensions: Approximately 10¼” x 5⅞” (at mouth).

 

Decoration:  

The rims are decorated with concentric gilt and blue enamel bands, one of which is decorated with gilt flower and leaves.

 

The bodies are simply decorated with blue and gilt vases or urns filled with flowers and leaves above which is a hovering butterfly and with small flower sprays.

 

The urns are encircled by intertwined blue and gilt ribbons.

 

There is a narrow blue and gilt band encircling the foot of each.

 

The bases are unmarked.

 

This type of decoration is typical of that used for the American market.

 

Condition: Minor glaze hairlines on one vase, minor gilding losses to edges of rims; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
