Pair of Daoguang Monogrammed Covered Vegetable Dishes
Chinese export porcelain covered vegetable dishes, circa 1840.
Dimensions: Approximately 9¾” x 8⅝” x 5½” (closed and including finial).
Decoration:
The rims of the dishes and lids are edged in gold.
The borders of the lids are decorated with a blue Greek key pattern over a gold ground, and colorful flower vases and water lilies.
The lids have gold berry finials, are decorated with colorful courtyard scenes, and bear gold monograms within an oval. The monogram appears to be “CSM”.
The sides of the dishes are decorated with similar colorful courtyard scenes and bear the same monograms.
The interior of each dish is decorated with the same border decoration as the lid and flower sprays.
The reverse of the lids and the bases are undecorated. The bases bear the remnants of old labels.
